BI Engineer (Financial Background) - Senior Associate

About the role

PwC is looking for a highly skilled and analytical Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer with a mandatory financial background to join its growing data team in Cairo. The role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining scalable BI solutions that turn raw data into actionable insights for clients and the organisation. The position is at Senior Associate level.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Translate business needs into technical specifications and maintain robust BI solutions.
• Integrate data from multiple sources such as SQL databases, APIs, Excel and cloud platforms.
• Develop and optimise DAX queries and data models for performance and usability.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.
• Implement and maintain data security and governance standards within Power BI.
• Monitor BI tool performance and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
• Work with data engineers, analysts and product teams to ensure data quality and integrity.
• Provide training and documentation for end users and stakeholders on Power BI usage.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Finance or a related field.
• 3-6 years of experience as a BI Engineer, Data Analyst or similar role.
• Proven financial background with hands-on experience in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting or forecasting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and strong communication skills to explain insights to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required skills

• Strong Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M) and data modelling.
• Hands-on SQL and relational databases, and Python or R for data analysis.
• Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
• Preferred: Azure Data Services (Azure SQL, Data Factory), other BI tools such as Tableau or Looker, and Microsoft certification (e.g. PL-300).
