Buyer – Procurement for Drilling Operations

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Buyer to source, procure and manage suppliers supporting drilling operations. The role ensures timely, compliant and cost‑effective delivery of materials, services and rental equipment to maintain rig uptime and operational continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Review requisitions for completeness, technical alignment and budget approval before issuing purchase orders.
• Create purchase orders with clear scope, delivery terms, incoterms and acceptance criteria; monitor the PO lifecycle and escalate aging orders.
• Maintain category strategies for consumables, inventory, rental equipment, chemicals and services; run RFQ rounds and prepare total cost of ownership analyses.
• Build and update approved supplier lists, qualify new suppliers against technical, commercial, HSE and local content criteria, and manage onboarding.
• Implement supplier performance scorecards, track on‑time delivery, quality and corrective actions, and lead supplier corrective action requests.
• Embed commercial controls in contracts, maintain audit‑ready procurement files and support change order processing.
• Identify single‑point failures and long‑lead critical items, develop mitigation plans and ensure contingency stocking.
• Champion safety by adhering to corporate QHSSE policies, Zero Tolerance standards and the ADES WAY.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or purchasing for industrial or drilling operations.
• Strong understanding of safety, QHSSE and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work closely with operations, technical teams and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical skills for cost comparisons, risk assessment and supplier performance evaluation.
