Chief Accountant – Financial Control & Reporting

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead end‑to‑end financial control, statutory compliance and the integrity of financial reporting for a trading and FMCG business. The role ensures accurate, timely statements in line with Egyptian Accounting Standards while driving process optimisation and cost discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles, overseeing journal entries, accruals, provisions and financial statements.
• Manage all tax obligations (VAT, corporate, payroll, withholding) and act as focal point for tax inspections.
• Supervise the full accounting cycle – AP, AR, GL, fixed assets and inventory – ensuring reconciliations and internal controls.
• Monitor inventory valuation, costing methods and stock movement, providing cost analysis for trading/FMCG operations.
• Support budgeting, rolling forecasts and variance analysis to aid decision‑making.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, maintaining audit‑ready documentation.
• Lead, coach and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, CMA or equivalent preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong exposure to trading, FMCG or supply‑chain environments; import/export accounting is a plus.
• Deep knowledge of Egyptian Accounting Standards (EAS) and local tax legislation.
• Proven ability to manage large, complex financial operations and lead teams.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Egyptian Accounting Standards (EAS) and tax laws.
• Extensive ERP experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Odoo).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
