Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant oversees daily accounting operations for a hotel, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with Hilton policies and local regulations. The role supports the Director of Finance in protecting assets, maximizing profitability, and delivering timely financial information to management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all hotel accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, month‑end and year‑end closing, and preparation of financial statements.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records, journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain internal control environment, monitor compliance with corporate policies, delegation of authority, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate internal, external, and corporate audits; prepare audit schedules and resolve findings.
• Oversee tax compliance, including VAT, withholding tax, payroll taxes, and other statutory filings.
• Direct cash and treasury management, monitor cash flow, review bank reconciliations, and enforce cash handling controls.
• Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Cashier, and Income Audit functions; manage supplier payments and receivable collections.
• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a culture of accountability and integrity.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hotel or hospitality accounting operations.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes.
• Ability to manage cash, treasury, and tax compliance functions.
• Leadership experience supervising accounting staff.
