Chief Information Officer (CIO)

About the role

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Cairo, leading the Egyptian Survey Authority’s information technology vision, strategy and day‑to‑day operations. The role oversees the design, implementation and maintenance of IT systems that support surveying, mapping and geospatial data services, ensuring they are secure, reliable and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop IT teams, set technology standards and prioritize projects.
• Align IT initiatives with organizational goals, national regulations and business processes.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads to improve data governance and drive digital transformation.
• Oversee vendor relationships, budget control, risk assessment and continuous improvement of IT policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Proven senior IT leadership experience (CIO, CTO or equivalent) in government, surveying, geospatial or infrastructure organisations.
• Strong background in IT operations, infrastructure management, systems administration and cybersecurity.
• Demonstrated ability in IT strategy, strategic planning, governance frameworks and business process optimisation.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related field; master’s degree or certifications (ITIL, PMP, CISSP) are a plus.
