Coffee Trader / Commodity Trader

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, highly analytical Coffee Trader to own and optimise a physical coffee trading portfolio. The role covers the full trade cycle—from sourcing and origin relationship management to contract negotiation, risk mitigation through hedging, and final delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the profit and loss of the assigned trading book, identifying arbitrage and market opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with producers, cooperatives, exporters and shipping agents in key coffee‑producing regions.
• Develop and execute sales strategies for roasters, importers and specialty buyers using a consultative approach.
• Monitor global coffee market fundamentals daily, including crop cycles, weather, currency movements, freight rates and macro‑economic drivers.
• Implement hedging strategies with futures and options to protect against price volatility.
• Coordinate with logistics, quality assurance and operations teams to ensure seamless trade execution and timely delivery.
• Participate in coffee selection, sample evaluation and curation to meet quality specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Trade or a related field; MBA is a plus.
• 3–7 years of proven experience in physical commodity trading, preferably coffee.
• Deep understanding of global coffee markets, pricing mechanisms and standard trading platforms.
