Commercial Counsel, Legal Center of Efficiency

About the role

GE Vernova is establishing a Legal Center of Efficiency and is looking for the founding Commercial Counsel to help design, build and run it. Reporting to the Chief Corporate Counsel and working closely with Legal Operations, the role provides hands-on legal review and negotiation while setting up a scalable, technology-enabled model for high-volume, repeatable agreements, starting with NDAs. The role begins in 2026 with NDAs and expands to other agreement types from 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and sign off on mutual and one-way NDAs, including escalated and non-standard terms.
• Expand the Center's scope to other commercial contracts such as customer and vendor agreements and master service agreements.
• Define risk positions, fallback language and approval thresholds for standard and non-standard terms.
• Act as the legal escalation point for terms exceeding pre-approved thresholds.
• Ensure practices meet legal standards, risk appetite and regulatory and data-protection requirements.
• Advise the Chief Corporate Counsel and GCs on legal risk trends and recommend template and threshold updates.
• Help design the NDA intake, triage and escalation process, the NDA playbook, RACI, templates and training materials with Legal Operations.
• Support adoption across business units, the General Counsel community and functions such as procurement and commercial teams.
• Support KPI reporting (cycle time, escalation rate, rework rate, legal hours saved, self-service adoption) and the controlled pilot and phased rollout.
• Support self-service and AI-enabled tools for routine NDAs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in law from an accredited university.
• Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience in commercial contracting, with strong command of NDAs and other high-volume, repeatable agreements.
• In-house or high-volume legal experience strongly preferred; comfort in a fast-paced, evolving build stage.
• Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.
• A track record of building or transforming a legal process, function or program from scratch.
• Plus: familiarity with energy, power and electrification sectors, and change-management and stakeholder-influence skills.

Required skills

• Fluency with legal technology, CLM and AI-enabled tools.
• Proficiency in English.
