About the role
Payrails is building a meta‑layer for global payments and needs a Compliance Specialist to embed financial‑crime, sanctions and scheme compliance into every product and partnership. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will work across operations, legal, product and engineering to ensure safe, rapid growth.
Key responsibilities
- Own and drive core compliance processes across the company.
- Conduct business‑partner due diligence and enhanced due diligence (KYC/KYB) for new and existing partners.
- Support AML/CTF and sanctions monitoring, review alerts, investigate suspicious activity and prepare internal reports.
- Monitor legal, sanctions and card‑scheme developments in all operating markets and translate them into actionable internal requirements.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to embed compliance requirements into new features from the design stage.
- Maintain and improve internal policies, procedures and controls, and contribute to compliance training.
- Assist in managing relationships with acquirers/PSPs, banking partners, auditors and card schemes, preparing documentation for due‑diligence, audits and assessments.
Required profile
- 3‑5 years of hands‑on compliance experience within payments, fintech or financial services.
- Practical experience with KYC/KYB processes, AML/CTF frameworks, sanctions screening and transaction/fraud monitoring.
- Solid knowledge of financial‑crime, sanctions and scheme frameworks; familiarity with card‑scheme rules is a plus.
- Experience working with acquirers/PSPs, auditors or banking partners.
- Ability to translate complex compliance requirements into clear, practical guidance for non‑compliance audiences.
- Structured, detail‑oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Pragmatic, solution‑oriented mindset that balances regulatory requirements with business speed.
- Fluent English communication skills.
