Data Engineer, Associate – Advisory

About the role

PwC's Advisory practice, within its Technology, Data & Analytics business unit, is hiring an Associate Data Engineer in Cairo. The team supports clients in transformation projects, from defining data strategies to architecting, designing and implementing modern data and analytics solutions with cloud technologies. You will work across a portfolio of clients, mainly large and complex organisations, in a team reporting to the Data Analytics delivery service leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build data infrastructure and systems for efficient data processing and analysis.
• Develop and implement data pipelines, data integration and data transformation solutions.
• Work with clients on data strategy and modern data and analytics solutions using cloud technologies.
• Contribute to client transformation programmes delivered across the PwC Global Network, including the UK, Germany and Middle East.

Required profile

• University degree in computer science, engineering, business analytics, information systems or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of hands-on experience with Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Files, Blob, Synapse, Data Lake Analytics, Event Hub, Data Catalog, Stream Analytics).
• +1 year of hands-on experience delivering data analytics solutions on cloud platforms.
• Experience in at least one business function (e.g. marketing, sales, finance, procurement).
• Ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

Required skills

• Data architecture for ingesting, modelling and serving structured and unstructured data; ELT or ETL.
• Full lifecycle delivery of enterprise data platforms, including data warehouses, big data, MDM and data profiling.
• Dimensional modelling and data modelling from conceptual to physical, including slowly changing dimensions and single customer views.
• Cloud infrastructure: DevOps, networking and security.
• SQL and query performance tuning.
• Foundational knowledge of vendors such as SAP Business Analytics, Oracle, Cognos, Informatica, SSIS, Datastage, Talend, or data warehouse vendors.
• Preferred: Power BI visualisation, Data Vault modelling, and Azure certifications; Alteryx certification is also a plus.
