Data Protection Officer – Cairo

About the role

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) will lead MEAHCO’s compliance with the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and related regulations. Reporting to senior management, the DPO ensures that personal data is handled securely and in line with legal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and periodically review the organization’s data protection framework, policies, standards and procedures.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) covering all data processing operations, legal bases, retention periods and security measures.
• Manage licenses, permits and accreditations required from the PDPC, including those for sensitive data, electronic marketing and cross‑border transfers.
• Conduct regular audits and evaluations of data processing systems, documenting findings and reporting results.
• Handle data subject requests (access, correction, erasure, objection, consent withdrawal) within statutory timelines.
• Act as the primary liaison with the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Centre, handling registrations, inspections and information requests.
• Deliver ongoing data protection training and awareness programs for staff and management.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise on their impact.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science or a related field; postgraduate qualification in data protection or compliance is a plus.
• 3–5 years of experience in data protection, privacy compliance or regulatory compliance, with at least 2 years in a privacy‑focused role.
• Strong knowledge of the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law and its executive regulations.
