Data Protection Officer – Ensure PDPL Compliance

About the role

Pharma Overseas is seeking a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to lead compliance with Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). The DPO will act as the official liaison between the company, the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Center (PDPC), and data subjects, primarily focusing on employee and family records.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) for both digital and physical employee records.
• Conduct risk assessments, review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), and advise on technical safeguards.
• Provide guidance on access controls, audit trails, and data‑breach prevention measures while delivering privacy training to staff.
• Serve as the sole point of contact for the PDPC during audits, inquiries, and breach reporting.
• Manage breach notifications to the PDPC within statutory deadlines and submit annual compliance reports.
• Maintain secure channels to receive, assess, and resolve employee data‑subject requests and complaints within legal timeframes.

Required profile

• University degree, preferably in Law, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Business.
• 3–5 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, compliance, or corporate governance.
• Successful completion of the PDPC Lead DPO Exam with a score above 80%.
• Active registration in the PDPC DPO Registry with a valid DPO Code.
• Preferred certifications such as IAPP, ISC2, PECB, or equivalent ISO credentials.
