Design Engineer – Substations (HV/MV)

About the role

We are looking for a Design Engineer – Substations to lead the engineering of HV/MV substation projects, ensuring designs meet client requirements, applicable standards and company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review design deliverables such as single line diagrams, layouts, sections and grounding/lightning protection drawings.
• Perform electrical design calculations including grounding, lightning protection, cable sizing, voltage drop, short‑circuit, load and equipment sizing.
• Develop equipment datasheets, technical specifications, BOQs and material requisitions.
• Coordinate selection and design of major substation equipment (transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, surge arresters, reactive power equipment).
• Review vendor drawings and technical submittals for compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, protection, control and construction teams to ensure proper design interfaces.
• Support project execution through design reviews, procurement assistance, site clarifications and commissioning support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in HV/MV substation design engineering.
• Proven experience in utility, industrial, EPC or consulting environments.
• Strong understanding of substation primary systems and engineering interfaces.
