Director of Housekeeping

About the role

We are seeking a visionary Director of Housekeeping to lead our housekeeping operations at our luxury hotel in Cairo, Egypt. In this senior leadership position you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, guest satisfaction and operational efficiency while fostering an innovative and collaborative team culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously refine housekeeping policies, procedures and quality standards aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
• Lead, mentor and motivate a diverse team of supervisors and room attendants, creating an inclusive work environment.
• Create, manage and analyse departmental budgets, controlling labour costs, supplies and equipment procurement while identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
• Conduct regular inspections and quality audits to ensure consistent cleanliness and compliance with protocols.
• Collaborate with other hotel departments to coordinate guest experiences and resolve inter‑departmental challenges.
• Implement and monitor health, safety and environmental protocols in line with local regulations and sustainability practices.
• Manage inventory systems and vendor relationships to optimise procurement of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Analyse performance metrics and KPIs to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
• Address guest complaints related to housekeeping with empathy and decisive action.
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, championing their adoption.
• Recruit, onboard and develop housekeeping staff, establishing clear career paths and performance review processes.
• Manage crisis situations and adapt quickly to changing operational demands while maintaining service excellence.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of proven housekeeping management experience, preferably in luxury hotels, resorts or high‑end hospitality environments.
• Bachelor’s degree (field not specified).
• Strong leadership, team‑building and communication abilities.
• Demonstrated experience in budget management, inventory control and performance analysis.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to handle guest complaints effectively.
