First Commis – Food & Beverage

About the role

The First Commis supports the kitchen team in delivering high‑quality meals and ensuring smooth operations in a busy hotel environment. You will work closely with chefs and service staff to prepare, cook, and present dishes according to established standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals, cold foods, and substitute items following recipes and presentation guidelines.
• Regulate oven, broiler, grill and roaster temperatures and manage food thawing from freezer storage.
• Maintain food logs, monitor portion sizes, and ensure proper garnish and arrangement.
• Communicate assistance needs during peak periods and inform chefs of excess inventory for daily specials.
• Notify service staff of menu specials and out‑of‑stock items.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee coaching as needed.
• Follow all safety, security, and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 lb, standing for extended periods, and moving in tight kitchen spaces.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant culinary experience.
• No prior supervisory experience required.
