Gender and Border Governance Consultant

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Gender and Border Governance Consultant to support Egypt’s efforts to integrate gender perspectives into border management. The consultant will work with national authorities and IOM teams to develop and deliver capacity‑building activities that promote rights‑based, gender‑responsive border practices.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct gender analysis of migration flows and border operations in Egypt.
• Design and facilitate training modules on gender mainstreaming for border officials.
• Provide technical advice to integrate gender equality principles into border security policies and procedures.
• Develop guidance documents, tools and best‑practice recommendations for gender‑responsive border management.
• Support monitoring and evaluation of gender‑focused interventions and report on outcomes.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in gender studies, migration, international relations, law or a related field.
• Proven experience in gender mainstreaming and capacity‑building within migration or border management contexts.
• Familiarity with the legal and operational frameworks governing border authorities in the MENA region.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
