Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher

About the role

The Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher will join American City International School in Cairo to deliver an engaging, American‑based curriculum to a diverse group of young learners. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on creating a supportive, inclusive classroom where students develop core academic skills and embody the school’s values of respect, tolerance, inclusion, and perseverance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age‑appropriate lessons in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies aligned with the American curriculum.
• Assess student progress regularly and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of multilingual and multicultural learners.
• Integrate educational technology to enhance instruction and student engagement.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom climate.
• Communicate student development and classroom activities with families and colleagues.
• Participate in grade‑level team planning, professional development, and school events.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience teaching early primary or Grade 1 classes.
• Bachelor’s degree (any discipline); a degree in Education or Elementary Education is preferred.
• Valid teaching certification or eligibility to obtain one for elementary grades.
• Familiarity with American‑based curricula and student‑centered, inquiry‑driven teaching methods.
• Ability to support diverse learners and foster an inclusive environment.
