Head of Retail – Lead Retail Strategy & Operations

About the role

The Head of Retail will shape and execute the retail channel strategy for a leading beverage company. Reporting to senior leadership, this role drives sustainable sales growth, oversees store operations, and ensures an exceptional customer experience across all company‑owned stores and retail partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a retail strategy aligned with commercial objectives, identifying growth opportunities such as new store openings.
• Set annual sales targets, budgets and KPIs; monitor performance and analyse trends to increase revenue, transaction value and footfall.
• Oversee day‑to‑day store operations, ensuring consistent standards, operational efficiency and compliance with health, safety and food‑and‑beverage regulations.
• Lead regional, area and store managers; recruit, develop, coach and retain retail talent while fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Ensure excellent customer service, drive initiatives to boost satisfaction and loyalty, and resolve escalated issues.
• Manage merchandising, product assortment and promotional execution in collaboration with Marketing.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain to maintain optimal stock levels, minimise shortages, waste and expiry, and improve inventory turnover.
• Control the retail P&L, monitor labor costs, shrinkage and store‑level financial performance, and prepare reports for senior management.
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, HR and Procurement to align retail initiatives with overall business strategy.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, legal requirements, quality and food‑safety standards through regular audits and risk assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
