Import Manager

About the role

The Import Manager will lead all import activities for Gourmet Egypt, ensuring that food products, ingredients, packaging, equipment and other critical items reach the business on time, within budget and in full compliance with Egyptian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end import process from purchase order confirmation through shipment, customs clearance and final delivery.
• Coordinate with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines and transportation providers to execute imports efficiently.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships, oversee order confirmations, production schedules and shipping documentation.
• Monitor shipment status, lead times and supply risks, and develop contingency plans for delays or shortages.
• Ensure compliance with Egyptian customs regulations, food import requirements and local labeling standards.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities such as NFSA, GOEIC and the Customs Authority.
• Validate and maintain all import and shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, health certificates and bills of lading.
• Optimize freight, clearance, warehousing and logistics costs while minimizing demurrage and storage expenses.
• Analyze import performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Finance, Commercial, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality and Warehousing teams.

Required profile

• Proven ability to manage complex import operations and maintain supplier relationships.
• Strong knowledge of Egyptian customs regulations and food import requirements.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills to address shipment delays, documentation issues and clearance challenges.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with internal teams such as Procurement, Finance and Operations.
