Lead Senior Legal Counsel – Data Protection (Cairo)

About the role

SAP is seeking an experienced Lead Senior Legal Counsel to act as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) for Egypt and as Data Protection and Privacy Coordinator for the Arabian region, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Based in Cairo, you will lead the company’s compliance strategy with GDPR, Egyptian Data Protection Law No.151/2020, UAE Federal Decree‑Law No.45/2021, Saudi PDPL and other relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure SAP’s operations in Egypt and the Arabian countries comply with all applicable data protection and privacy laws.
• Collaborate with SAP’s global Data Protection & Privacy team, local business units, senior management and external regulators.
• Develop and deliver data‑protection awareness programs across the organization.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on risk mitigation strategies.
• Maintain formal registration with the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Center (PDPC) and keep the DPO register up to date.

Required profile

• Registered (or eligible for immediate registration) in the official DPO Register held by the PDPC.
• Successful completion of the PDPC accreditation examination demonstrating deep knowledge of Egyptian data‑protection law.
• Proven experience in data‑privacy compliance, preferably within a multinational technology environment.
• Strong ability to work with cross‑functional teams and external authorities.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of GDPR, Egyptian Data Protection Law No.151/2020, UAE Federal Decree‑Law No.45/2021 and Saudi PDPL.
• Legal and technical expertise in data‑privacy assessments and regulatory reporting.
