About the role
The Faculty of Applied Science and Arts at GUC (Cairo Campus) seeks a motivated Lecturer/Instructor to join the Graphic Design Department. The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate students, focusing on the creation of Arabic and Latin typefaces from initial sketch to digital production.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver courses on Arabic and Latin type design, calligraphy, lettering, and typesetting.
- Guide students through the full typeface development process, including sketching, digitizing, and final production.
- Utilise industry‑standard software such as Glyphs and FontLab in classroom instruction.
- Contribute to curriculum development and academic research within the design discipline.
Required profile
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging design approaches.
- Commitment to progressive, self‑organized design education.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural and aesthetic backgrounds.
- Excellent English communication and writing skills.
- Good project management and deadline‑driving capabilities.
Required skills
- Arabic and Latin type design.
- Calligraphy and lettering.
- Typesetting.
- Proficiency with Glyphs software.
- Proficiency with FontLab software.
- Typography and layout experience (asset).
