Legal Manager – Retail & Corporate Banking

About the role

The Legal Manager will oversee the legality of agreements and operations within the retail and corporate banking divisions, ensuring compliance with Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) regulations and applicable Egyptian laws. The role supports product development, strategic decisions, and cross‑functional initiatives across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Review and supervise agreements for retail and corporate banking, guaranteeing compliance with CBE regulations.
• Assist retail and corporate teams in product decisions, providing legal guidance based on Egyptian law.
• Participate in meetings, contribute to bank strategy and policy making, and ensure customer‑related matters follow legal requirements.
• Provide legal opinions to various departments within the retail division.
• Supervise and guide sub‑ordinates in the legal department, ensuring task completion.
• Propose amendments to SOPs or manuals to enhance profitability and customer satisfaction in line with the bank’s strategy.
• Ensure staff adherence to the bank’s code of conduct, external policies, CBE regulations, and secrecy laws.
• Design mechanisms for launching new products to retail customers.
• Deputize the Egypt legal head when absent and lead incoming lawyers.
• Offer legal advice to the Human Resources team and monitor legal actions involving the bank.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in retail and corporate banking legal matters.
• Strong knowledge of Egyptian banking laws and CBE regulations.
• Ability to supervise legal staff and coordinate with multiple business units.
