Legal Manager – Retail & Corporate Banking

About the role

The Legal Manager will oversee the legality of agreements and applications within the retail and corporate banking divisions, ensuring compliance with Central Bank of Egypt regulations and Egyptian law. The role supports the retail and corporate teams in product decisions, provides legal opinions, and contributes to bank strategy and policy‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Review and supervise agreements and applications for the retail and corporate banking group, guaranteeing conformity with CBE regulations and applicable Egyptian laws.
• Assist retail and corporate teams in decision‑making and the launch of new products, based on current legal requirements.
• Participate in meetings, contribute to bank strategy and policy development, and ensure retail customer matters are handled in line with Egyptian legislation.
• Provide legal opinions to various departments within the retail division and supervise sub‑ordinates in the legal department.
• Analyse and propose amendments to SOPs or manuals to enhance profitability and customer satisfaction in line with the bank’s strategy.
• Ensure staff awareness of the bank’s code of conduct, external policies, CBE regulations, and secrecy laws.
• Design and implement mechanisms for offering new products to retail customers.
• Deputise for the Egypt Legal Head when absent and lead incoming lawyers in the retail and corporate legal section.
• Provide legal advice to the Human Resources team and monitor legal actions involving the bank.

Required profile

• Legal education with solid experience in banking law, particularly retail and corporate banking.
• In‑depth knowledge of Egyptian legislation, CBE regulations and banking secrecy law.
• Proven ability to supervise legal staff and coordinate with multiple business units.
• Strong analytical skills to review contracts, propose SOP amendments and support product development.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting legal opinions and participating in strategic meetings.

Required skills
