About the role
The Linux Lab Engineer will manage and maintain the Linux‑based infrastructure of the Networks Laboratory at the German University in Cairo. The role supports teaching and research activities, ensuring reliable lab environments for networking courses and projects.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux systems across all lab workstations and servers.
- Support and maintain lab setups for CCNA courses, simulations, and practical sessions.
- Deploy and manage virtualization platforms used in teaching and research.
- Provide technical assistance to faculty members and students during lab sessions.
- Maintain up‑to‑date documentation for system configurations, software installations, and lab procedures.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong experience with Linux system administration (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, etc.).
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, routing and switching.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, VirtualBox, KVM).
- Basic scripting ability using Bash or similar shells.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
