Marine Service Engineer – Port Said, Egypt

About the role

Mackay is seeking experienced Marine Service Engineers to join our team in Port Said, Egypt. You will travel to commercial vessels to install, service, and repair a range of electronic and communication systems, ensuring ships remain fully operational and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to vessel locations and perform installation, servicing, and repair of electronic and communication equipment.
• Test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, sub‑assemblies, and antennas.
• Load, update, and modify software on shipboard systems.
• Interpret complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to complete assignments accurately.
• Prepare detailed service reports after each job.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of MET, ET or AT experience (military background a plus).
• At least 3 years as a Marine Service Engineer/Technician in commercial shipping.
• University degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Relevant country‑specific licenses or certifications; FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Physically fit – able to lift ~50 lb, climb ladders/masts, and work in varied weather.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and legal authorization to work in Egypt.
• Ability to pass a thorough background check.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Proficiency with radar, ECDIS, Satcom, HF/VHF radios, GPS, gyrocompasses, autopilots, and sounders.
• PCB and antenna troubleshooting.
• Software loading and updating on shipboard systems.
• PC proficiency.
• FCC General License with Radar Endorsement (preferred).
• GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License (preferred).
