Markets Editor

About the role

ZAWYA, a London Stock Exchange Group company, is looking for a Markets Editor based in Cairo to report to the Managing Editor. The role oversees coverage of capital markets in the MENA region, producing its own reporting, news and analysis across multiple asset classes and commissioning it from a team of reporters.

Key responsibilities

• Drive ZAWYA's market news coverage with a mix of breaking news and feature-level content across ECM, DCM, leveraged finance and loans, project finance M&A and macroeconomic outlooks
• Work with the Managing Editor, editors and colleagues to identify content ideas and keep editorial projects on schedule
• Maintain strong relationships with the regional financial community to cultivate sources such as senior bankers, C-level executives, financial analysts and fund managers
• Optimise content through tagging, keywords, headlines and SEO, and edit for style, grammar and factual accuracy
• Monitor content feeds and update spreadsheets, databases and other content repositories
• Use analytics data to measure content performance and inform editorial decisions
• Contribute to events, podcasts and thought leadership initiatives

Required profile

• Experience as a financial writer, journalist or editor with a local or global publication
• Ability to turn complex financial concepts into clear content for professionals and lay readers
• Strong knowledge of journalistic standards: sourcing, verification, attribution, corrections and media ethics
• Good time management and ability to work under deadline
• Arabic is a plus

• Basic understanding of HTML and SEO
• Proficiency with content management systems
• Experience in multimedia content creation is a plus
