Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) mechanical equipment in an industrial setting. The role combines hands‑on supervision, planning of preventive and corrective maintenance, and continuous improvement of equipment availability.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance for RDF systems.
• Supervise maintenance activities on receiving, storage, conveying, shredding, dosing and feeding equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance using maintenance KPIs and lead root‑cause analysis of failures.
• Develop strategies to improve availability and reduce downtime.
• Coordinate major shutdowns, annual maintenance and major CAPEX projects.
• Manage spare‑parts requirements and optimise inventory for RDF equipment.
• Inspect chain, screw and belt conveyors, feeders, hydraulic systems, shredders, gearboxes, bearings, fans and dust‑collection units.
• Review vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis and condition‑monitoring reports.
• Prepare work orders, schedules and resource allocation plans.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, LOTO requirements and risk assessments.
• Support commissioning and startup of new RDF equipment.
• Manage contractor activities and verify quality of maintenance work.
• Produce technical reports, maintenance budgets and performance reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–8 years of mechanical maintenance experience in cement plants, heavy industry, waste‑to‑energy or alternative‑fuel facilities.
• Minimum 3 years working with RDF systems, conveyors, shredders and bulk‑material handling equipment.
• Proven team‑leadership and contractor‑management experience.
• Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and communication skills.
