Operations Business Controller

About the role

As an Operations Business Controller you will lead financial strategy and performance management across the company’s Operations functions—including factories, farms, logistics and procurement. You will ensure cost optimisation, disciplined investment and strong governance while building a high‑performing finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary finance business partner to the Operations Director and heads of Factory, Farm, Logistics and Procurement, translating operational drivers into financial implications and recommendations.
• Challenge decisions to optimise cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory levels and capital‑expenditure returns, and prepare performance narratives, dashboards and steering‑committee materials.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of five budget controllers across two legal entities, setting objectives, up‑skilling in analytics and standardising templates and best practices.
• Own the rolling forecast, annual budget and monthly closing for COGS across materials, factory, farm and logistics, driving root‑cause analysis of variances such as price‑performance, usage, conversion costs, labour, energy and transport.
• Ensure accurate accruals, provisions and cost allocations, safeguarding the integrity of standard costs and bills of materials within the ERP system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or Accounting.
• 8‑10 years of experience in senior finance roles, including managing teams.
• Proven experience partnering with operational functions and delivering financial insights that drive decision‑making.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems for cost accounting and standard‑cost maintenance.
