Product Development Manager - Parts & Accessories

About the role

General Motors is looking for a Product Development Manager in Giza, working onsite at the GM office full time. The role develops and manages the GM and ACDelco product portfolio to grow the Parts & Accessories (P&A) business in Egypt and the Africa region, improving product competitiveness, expanding the approved supplier network and product offerings in line with GM global guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Handle product development activities for Egypt and Africa
• Develop Scope of Requirements (SOR) with engineering testing and validation requirements to start sourcing new parts and accessories
• Review engineering testing and validation documents for compliance, and evaluate supplier technical capabilities and literature
• Take part in Potential Supplier Assessments from an engineering and technical viewpoint
• Present country updates in global meetings on product readiness, parts progress and new projects
• Support quality issue resolution and improvements from an engineering perspective, and ensure products meet safety, performance and durability specifications
• Develop source data on product features, benefits and unique selling points, and study products against competitors to build SWOT analyses
• Design packaging artwork and propose packing improvements with the GM global team
• Coordinate parts change management between plants and dealers, and manage online parts catalogues so changes are reflected accurately and on time
• Support business development for parts and accessories, exploring new markets, customers, partnerships and products in Egypt and North Africa

Required profile

• University degree in engineering, preferably Automotive or Production Mechanical Engineering; MBA is a plus
• At least 5 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a strong advantage for those who have managed supplier quality and development activities
• Strong technical knowledge of automotive components and good understanding of parts production processes and validation requirements
