Retail Makeup Trainee – 3‑Month Contract

About the role

As a Makeup Artist Trainee at MAC Cosmetics, you will gain hands‑on experience in professional makeup artistry, customer service, and beauty retail while delivering an exceptional and personalized client experience. You will work closely with the store team to represent MAC’s artistry, innovation, and commitment to self‑expression.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients with product recommendations, demonstrations, and basic makeup applications tailored to their needs.
• Support the team in achieving sales targets by delivering excellent customer service and creating engaging product experiences.
• Build positive relationships with clients and contribute to a welcoming, personalized shopping environment.
• Develop strong knowledge of MAC products, makeup techniques, beauty trends, and brand guidelines through hands‑on training.
• Support daily store operations, including stock management, visual merchandising, product hygiene, and maintaining a clean professional environment.
• Assist in‑store events, promotions, launches, and brand activations to boost customer engagement.
• Collaborate with Makeup Artists, Store Management, and the wider team to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Participate actively in training, coaching, and development sessions to continuously improve makeup artistry, product knowledge, and sales skills.
• Adhere to company policies, security procedures, hygiene standards, and brand guidelines throughout the assignment.

Required profile

• Previous experience in beauty retail with an understanding of customer service and sales environments.
• Good makeup artistry skills and a genuine interest in developing professional application techniques.
• Passion for makeup, beauty, cosmetics and staying up‑to‑date with beauty trends.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer‑focused, positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn and develop product knowledge, makeup artistry, and selling skills through hands‑on training.
• Team‑oriented, proactive, and adaptable, able to work effectively in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Available for a 3‑month contract, including retail hours, weekends, and possible store location changes.
• Good English communication skills.
