Senior Buyer – Procurement Services (Grant Position)

About the role

The Senior Buyer will lead the procurement of equipment, goods and services for the university, ensuring compliance with policies, best value and timely delivery. Reporting to the Lead Buyer, the role manages the full procurement cycle from requisition review to contract administration.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and oversee purchases in line with university procurement standards.
• Maintain qualified vendor lists, assess supplier performance and source new suppliers.
• Prepare and issue RFPs/RFQs, evaluate bids and coordinate award processes following AUC guidelines.
• Draft, review and finalize purchase orders and contracts, ensuring legal and policy compliance.
• Review requisitions against budgets, contribute to budget management and achieve cost savings.
• Monitor market conditions, pricing trends and recommend appropriate purchasing methods.
• Perform purchasing functions using the SAP system, ensuring accurate data entry and workflow approvals.
• Track procurement metrics, KPIs and supplier evaluations to support continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with internal departments to define needs, refine specifications and provide order status updates.

Required profile

• University degree (required); SCM or CIPS certification is an asset.
• Minimum seven years of experience, including at least four years in procurement.
• Strong understanding of purchasing cycles, tendering and order processing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP ERP for procurement processes.
• Solid knowledge of procurement best practices and vendor management.
