Senior Buyer – Procurement Services (Grant Position)

About the role

The Senior Buyer will lead the procurement of equipment, goods and services for the university, ensuring compliance with policies, best value and timely delivery. Reporting to the Lead Buyer, the role manages the full procurement cycle from requisition review through contract administration.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and oversee purchases of equipment, goods and services in line with university policies.
• Maintain qualified vendor lists, assess supplier performance and identify new sources.
• Prepare and issue RFPs/RFQs, review bids and coordinate evaluation and award processes.
• Draft, review and finalize purchase orders and contracts, ensuring terms, delivery schedules and payment conditions meet legal and university requirements.
• Review requisitions against budgets, contribute to budget and encumbrance management and achieve cost savings.
• Monitor market conditions and pricing trends to recommend appropriate purchasing methods.
• Perform purchasing functions using the SAP system, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with automated controls.
• Track procurement metrics, KPIs and supplier evaluations to support continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with internal departments to define needs, refine specifications and provide order status updates.

Required profile

• University degree (mandatory).
• Minimum seven years of experience, including at least four years in procurement.
• Supply Chain Management (SCM) or CIPS certification is an asset.
