Senior SAP Basis Engineer – 2‑Year Remote Contract

About the role

We are looking for a Senior SAP Basis Engineer to join our global technical team on a two‑year freelance contract. The role is fully remote and offers high technical autonomy while supporting large, business‑critical SAP landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade SAP systems such as ECC, BW, and PO.
• Administer SAP HANA databases, perform system tuning, and resolve technical issues.
• Support migration of interfaces to SAP Integration Suite for the Global PO team.
• Duplicate SAP systems using SAP‑approved replication methods.
• Plan and execute lifecycle activities, including platform patching and security hardening.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, technical upgrades, and environment optimisation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Produce and maintain platform administration documentation, policies, and procedures.
• Manage SAP security tasks, compliance activities, and major incident resolution.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a SAP Basis Administrator on large‑scale environments (20,000+ users, 10 TB+ databases).
• Subject‑matter‑expert level knowledge across multiple SAP products.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and risk‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently, mentor junior staff, and communicate effectively with senior management.
• Fluent English (B2+ level) for an international working environment.
