Senior Software Engineer, Core Experiences

About the role

Speechify is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Core Experiences team. You will build and maintain the foundational services and cross‑platform SDKs that power the product experience across all devices, working at the intersection of product and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster feedback, and balance integration/UX trade‑offs.
• Design and ship solutions via a cross‑platform SDK, optimizing existing functionality for faster loading and smarter parsing.
• Develop cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.

Required profile

• Systems thinking with a focus on end‑to‑end design and simplicity.
• Ability to move quickly, generate ideas, and prioritize what ships now versus later.
• Strong focus in a high‑growth, remote startup environment.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with designers, marketers, and product managers.

Required skills

• Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable).
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.
• Solid Java programming background.
