Site Accountant

About the role

The Site Accountant is responsible for managing all financial activities on a construction site, ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, and compliance with tax regulations. This role supports site management by providing financial solutions and maintaining the integrity of the site’s financial documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop solutions for financial issues to aid management decision‑making.
• Verify that financial claims align with subcontractors' accountants.
• Handle day‑to‑day accounting transactions, including receivables, payables, petty cash, and supplier payments.
• Prepare monthly reports for head office, including cash flow and purchase summaries.
• Participate in the preparation of annual financial statements.
• Control and monitor the financial documentation cycle and internal control structures.
• Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department on site.
• Ensure proper tax documentation and prepare monthly Value‑Added Tax (VAT) returns.
• Review weekly timesheets covering attendance, leave, and missions.
• Coordinate daily and weekly transportation requirements in line with HR and HSE policies.
• Procure critical site requirements and purchases after approval from the site manager and finance department.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site or project accounting, preferably within construction.
• Strong knowledge of VAT filing and general tax compliance.
• Ability to prepare accurate monthly and annual financial reports.
• Experience managing an accounting team and overseeing daily accounting operations.
• Familiarity with subcontractor invoicing and reconciliation processes.
• Good understanding of internal control and documentation procedures.
