Software Engineer - Application Support (Senior Associate)

About the role

PwC's ETIC advisory practice in Cairo is looking for a Software Engineer - Application Support (Senior Associate). The role focuses on supporting and maintaining the API integration layer and backend systems, with flexibility to contribute to software development when needed. It suits someone with strong analytical skills, a solid software engineering foundation and the ability to work across teams to resolve complex issues.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse solution designs so that applications function as intended.
• Investigate and interpret application logs to find the root cause of issues.
• Classify and route errors, escalating them to the right teams when needed.
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders following established guidelines.
• Support development tasks when needed, helping build scalable and maintainable solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field; a Software Engineering diploma or Master's is a plus.
• 4+ years of experience building and maintaining reliable, scalable services or platforms.
• Ability to read solution designs and technical documentation.
• Previous experience in consulting or in multinational environments, and Agile team experience, are a plus.

Required skills

• Proven coding experience in C#, Java, Python or Node (a must).
• Proficiency in SQL databases (a must); NoSQL is a plus.
• Advanced understanding of APIs, microservices, logging and error handling.
• Strong understanding of OOP and SOLID principles.
• Cloud providers (Azure, AWS or GCP), message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, and front-end technologies (JavaScript, Angular, React) are a plus.
• Familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube is a plus.
