2nd Commis

About the role

The 2nd Commis supports the kitchen team in a busy hotel restaurant, ensuring smooth daily operations and maintaining high hygiene standards. Working closely with the Chef de Partie or Demi Chef, you will help prepare ingredients, manage stock, and keep the work area clean and organized.

Key responsibilities

• Transport daily supplies from the storage house to the kitchen.
• Assist the Chef de Partie/Demi Chef in food preparation and service.
• Take full responsibility for your section when the supervisor is absent.
• Follow menu specifications, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
• Maintain hygienic conditions in the work area at all times.
• Control food stock levels and report discrepancies.
• Report equipment failures to the Maintenance Department and submit maintenance requests.
• Participate in training and development programs as directed.
• Support the Duty Manager with assigned tasks and comply with all hotel policies.

Required profile

• At least a primary school diploma.
• Ability to learn the role within three years and perform duties to expected standards.
• Willingness to follow strict hygiene and safety regulations.
• Good communication with supervisors and team members.
• Positive attitude, reliable attendance, and a professional appearance.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to handle stock control and inventory basics.
• Capability to use non‑standard kitchen devices after brief training.
