Academic Assistant for Communication Studies

About the role

The Academic Assistant will support online Communication Studies courses at Louisiana State University of Alexandria. Working closely with faculty, the assistant ensures students receive timely feedback and a high‑quality learning experience.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to student inquiries via email promptly.
• Grade assignments using established rubrics.
• Monitor and rate discussion forum contributions.
• Send weekly reminders and announcements to the class.
• Assist faculty in managing course materials on the LMS.
• Complete required LSUA training such as FERPA, sexual harassment, cybersecurity, and Moodle.

Required profile

• Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Communication Studies.
• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and supervisors.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and academic integrity.
