Applied Physicist – Remote Task‑Based Role ($250 per task)

About the role

We are seeking a highly qualified Applied Physicist to work remotely on a task‑based contract. You will design and solve advanced physics problems that test the limits of large language models, providing detailed, step‑by‑step solutions and clear explanations.

Key responsibilities

• Design challenging physics problems across undergraduate to PhD‑level topics to evaluate LLM performance.
• Develop clear, high‑quality, step‑by‑step solutions with well‑articulated reasoning.
• Collaborate with LLM researchers to align problems with evaluation goals and identify model weaknesses.
• Help define new benchmark datasets based on physics curricula.
• Analyze complex physics problems using a structured, logical approach.
• Explain physics concepts using simple language, visuals, and rigorous reasoning.
• Provide constructive feedback and detailed annotations for AI evaluation workflows.

Required profile

• Master’s, PhD, or post‑doctoral degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field.
• Strong research and analytical abilities.
• Creative and lateral thinking with the capacity to generate novel problem sets.
• Excellent written communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently, and able to commit 4–40 hours per week with a 4‑hour overlap with PST.
• Reliable desktop or laptop with internet access.
