ASIC Emulation Engineer

About the role

Cisco's Common ASIC Group is looking for an Emulation Engineer in Cairo to join a team that pioneers programmable, high-speed switching solutions. The team accelerates innovation by enabling early detection of performance and functional issues in ASICs, blending hardware, software and emulation expertise to deliver the backbone of global data connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the development of advanced ASIC emulation environments to speed up pre-silicon validation and shorten time to market for next-generation switching systems.
• Build and refine emulation infrastructure using C/C++ and TCL, helping identify critical issues early and enable robust silicon.
• Work closely with design, verification, power and diagnostic teams to implement, test and debug complex multi-terabit systems.
• Develop and run sophisticated test plans and traffic scenarios to ensure flawless system performance after silicon release.
• Shape the reliability and scalability of the hardware that underpins cloud and enterprise networks worldwide.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years.
• 2+ years of emulation experience on platforms such as Palladium, Veloce or Zebu, including compilation, debug and performance testing.
• RTL development with Verilog or SystemVerilog for emulation prototypes.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and TCL for emulation infrastructure.
• Experience with system debug tools such as GDB and waveform debuggers.
• Preferred: scripting languages (Python, Perl), post-silicon validation or debugging, knowledge of protocols such as PCIe, I2C, Ethernet packet headers and Ethernet protocol, strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
