Associate Backend Engineer (Python & Django)

About the role

PwC is looking for an Associate Backend Engineer (Python & Django) in its Advisory practice in Cairo. The role owns the delivery of scalable, secure and high-quality backend solutions, contributes to system design, leads backend feature delivery and helps integrate AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise applications, working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of backend features, from requirements and design through development, testing and deployment.
• Design, develop and maintain scalable, secure web applications and APIs using Python and Django.
• Contribute to backend architecture, data modeling, service structure and performance optimization.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Work with frontend engineers, product stakeholders and solution architects to turn business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, automated testing and documentation.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability and security, and support production deployments, monitoring and issue resolution.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Integrate AI/ML features such as recommendation systems, document processing and conversational interfaces, and support data pipelines and preprocessing workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 1+ years of backend development experience with demonstrated ownership of feature delivery.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, scalability and performance optimization.
• Proven ability to work in agile, fast-paced delivery environments.
• Preferred: experience in client-facing or consulting environments.
