Automation Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Sika, a global specialty chemicals company, is hiring a full-time Automation Maintenance Engineer in Badr City. The engineer ensures the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant's automation, electrical control and instrumentation systems, carrying out preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing failures and implementing reliability improvements while following Sika HSE, engineering, quality and change-control requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motors, control panels, communication networks and automated production and packaging equipment, and respond promptly to breakdowns.
• Develop, review and run preventive maintenance plans, perform periodic inspections and functional tests, and contribute to predictive and condition-based maintenance.
• Support troubleshooting, diagnostics and approved modifications of PLC and HMI systems, keep controlled backups of PLC programs and HMI applications, and document control logic and system architecture.
• Analyze repeated failures with root-cause analysis, propose reliability improvements and support projects that reduce maintenance costs, energy use and unplanned downtime.
• Maintain and calibrate process instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, weight, position), coordinate calibration with Quality, Production and external providers, and report instruments out of limits.
• Follow HSE requirements, lockout/tagout, permit-to-work and 5S standards, and support incident investigations.
• Manage critical spare parts, raise purchase requests and review spare-parts consumption.
• Support automation aspects of installation, modification and expansion projects, including wiring diagrams, testing, commissioning and acceptance testing.
• Give technical guidance to maintenance technicians and follow up on automation-related tasks.
