About the role
The County is seeking a Budget Accountant to lead the preparation and analysis of its operating and capital budgets. You will work closely with departmental teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and support strategic decision‑making.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, prepare, analyze and review budget statements, reports and records.
- Project revenue and expenditures for operating and capital budgets, forecasts and schedules.
- Prepare balance sheets, income statements and quarterly operating reports for internal use.
- Create supporting documents, schedules and footnotes for the annual county budget and coordinate data with departments.
- Recommend process‑improvement initiatives and policy changes to enhance financial reporting services.
- Perform payroll processing functions and apply HSE regulations.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
- 1‑3 years of experience in cost accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, performance‑based budgeting and relevant federal, state and county regulations.
- Very good English proficiency (read, written, spoken).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using an ERP system.
