Budget Accountant

About the role

The Budget Accountant will develop and oversee operational and capital budgets for oil & gas drilling projects and corporate operations, ensuring alignment with strategic and financial objectives. This role provides actionable insights to support cost efficiency and financial planning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of detailed operational and capital budgets for drilling projects and corporate functions, incorporating drilling schedules, rig mobilization costs, and capital investments.
• Analyze budget requirements for multi‑year projects and validate cost assumptions with project and operations teams.
• Track actual expenditures against approved budgets, conduct variance analysis, and present recommendations to management.
• Ensure proper cost allocation to project codes, cost centers, and capital accounts.
• Prepare budget reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders, supporting quarterly and annual disclosures.
• Reconcile budget data with financial systems and general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with IFRS and SOX.
• Conduct scenario analyses for key budget drivers and assist in audit processes.

• Strong analytical mindset with experience in budgeting and cost control for oil & gas projects.

• Excellent communication skills for presenting financial insights and recommendations.
