Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the finance function for Mexilla Food Industries LLC, ensuring full compliance with Egyptian statutory accounting standards and supporting the company's rapid growth. This senior position reports to the Finance Manager and collaborates closely with the Poland headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books and records in line with local legal and accounting requirements.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring reconciliations, journal discipline and timely error correction.
• Own the general ledger, trial balance, AP, AR, accruals, pre‑payments, fixed assets and statutory accounting records.
• Prepare schedules and data packs for management reporting, external audit, tax filings and HQ review.
• Handle local tax data preparation, payroll tax, VAT, withholding and other statutory submissions.
• Support inventory, cost flows, stock movements and plant‑related accounting entries in partnership with operations and supply‑chain teams.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment for capex, leases, advances, vendor and customer balances, and intercompany transactions.
• Maintain fixed‑asset register discipline and assist with physical verification processes.
• Prepare and review bank, supplier, customer and key balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Supervise junior accounting staff and assist the Finance Manager in strengthening local controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 5–8+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with senior or chief accountant responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Egyptian statutory accounting, tax documentation and month‑end close requirements.
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, industrial or high‑volume transactional environments.
• Fluency in English for reporting and coordination with Poland HQ; Arabic fluency expected.
• High attention to detail, reliability and willingness to work hands‑on in a growing operation.

Required skills

• ERP systems proficiency (experience with Business Central or similar).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
