Child Protection Officer - ECHO Aswan

About the role

The Child Protection Officer is responsible for the child protection component of a one-year project (January 2026 to December 2026) funded by the Swiss Development Corporation (SDC), based in Aswan. The project targets the Sudanese community in Aswan, working across three field sites with high Sudanese concentration (Karkar and Nasr Elnuba). The officer provides technical support, coaching and training to the Country office, Child Protection Officers, coaches and mentors, and ensures compliance with good practice standards and SOPs. The role reports to the Project Manager and supervises a Child Protection Coordinator and six case workers, with at least 70% of time spent at field sites.

Key responsibilities

• Develop monthly work plans and monitor the safe and quality implementation of CP activities across field sites
• Provide guidance, coaching and training to the CP team and build field team capacity
• Ensure Child Safeguarding standards are understood and met, in liaison with the Child Safeguarding focal point
• Ensure timely and efficient use of project funds and keep accurate expense records
• Contribute to budget development and ensure activities follow SDC policy and budget utilization guidelines
• Deliver quality trainings and workshops to local child protection social workers using approved materials
• Attend supervision meetings with the CP team leader or senior officer on MHPSS implementation
• Support the fidelity of implementation of SCI Common Approaches
• Work closely with other project teams and strengthen links with government authorities and other stakeholders
• Review monthly reports, draft quality monthly reports, compile case studies and lessons learned, and highlight protection issues to the project manager
