Cloud Software Engineer (Egypt)

About the role

Protagona is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy production‑grade applications on AWS for a diverse client portfolio. You will work on greenfield projects as well as modernising legacy systems, moving fluidly between infrastructure, backend, frontend, and data engineering tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy APIs using serverless and containerised patterns (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, Fargate).
• Build backend services in Python or TypeScript/Node.js, including authentication and event‑driven workflows.
• Contribute to React‑based frontend features and collaborate with designers and stakeholders.
• Design and implement data pipelines (batch and streaming) with Glue, Kinesis, EMR, and Lambda, and manage data storage in RDS/PostgreSQL, Redshift, Athena, and S3.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with IaC and CI/CD pipelines, applying cloud‑security best practices.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, leading architecture discussions and guiding clients through migration and modernisation decisions.

Required profile

• Strong full‑stack or backend engineering background.
• Comfortable owning AWS infrastructure and operating across at least two domains: frontend, API/backend, or data engineering.
• Ability to translate business goals into technical solutions and mentor junior engineers.
