Consultancy for IOM Community Based Protection Learning Note – Type B

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks an experienced consultant to develop a Type B Learning Note on Community‑Based Protection (CBP). The assignment will support IOM’s COMPASS programme and the Regional Development and Protection Programme for North Africa, providing practical guidance for practitioners working with migrants and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive literature review and field analysis on CBP approaches relevant to the North Africa region.
• Draft, edit, and finalize the Learning Note, ensuring alignment with IOM’s CBP framework and COMPASS objectives.
• Coordinate with IOM country offices, partners, and subject‑matter experts to incorporate feedback and validate content.
• Develop illustrative case studies, tools, and best‑practice recommendations.
• Deliver a final, publication‑ready document within the agreed timeline.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in migration studies, international development, social sciences, or a related field.
• Proven experience in community‑based protection, humanitarian programming, or migration research.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality technical documents and learning materials.
• Familiarity with IOM policies, COMPASS, and RDPP‑NA programmes is an advantage.
