DevOps Engineer

About the role

Smartology is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join a small, collaborative engineering team. You will work on real‑time, high‑volume transaction systems, big data pipelines, cloud‑native technologies, and AI‑driven solutions, covering the full development lifecycle from design to continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, automate, and maintain repeatable, testable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deploy and manage containerised applications on AWS across multiple global locations.
• Monitor, log, trace, and alert on distributed micro‑services to ensure reliability and observability.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to align projects with commercial and technical goals.
• Lead technical projects from definition through delivery and share knowledge to reduce key‑person dependencies.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong Unix/Linux system administration skills.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and container deployment on AWS.
• Experience with at least one relational database technology.
• Minimum 1 year of Java or Python development experience.
