Duty Manager

About the role

The Duty Manager ensures the smooth operation of the hotel’s public areas and front‑office functions, with a special focus on VIP guest experience. Working closely with the Front Office Manager, the role combines operational oversight, guest relations, and environmental stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor cleanliness, lighting and overall appearance of the lobby and public zones.
• Ensure front‑office staff maintain a professional appearance and behavior.
• Greet VIP guests, perform special services, and escort them to their rooms.
• Verify registration cards are fully completed and assist with VIP arrivals and departures when Guest Relations Officers are unavailable.
• Handle guest messages, faxes, and coordinate night‑reception instructions during high‑occupancy periods.
• Resolve room‑lock issues and manage walk‑in guest allocations.
• Operate the front‑office computer system to support attendants and generate wake‑up calls.
• Address guest complaints, record incidents in the Assistant Manager’s log, and support reception, business centre, cashier, concierge and bell captain as needed.
• Implement energy‑saving, waste‑reduction and environmental protection initiatives across the department.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with VIP guests and handling complaints.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple hotel departments.
• Proactive attitude towards sustainability and energy‑efficiency measures.
