Electrical Lighting Designer Engineer

About the role

The Lighting Designer Engineer (Electrical) works closely with the Lighting Design Manager to deliver high‑quality lighting solutions for Whitecroft’s sales teams and customers. The role combines technical expertise, project coordination, and mentorship to ensure timely and accurate delivery of lighting designs across sectors such as healthcare, education, and industrial workplaces.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Lighting Design Manager to support sales teams and Whitecroft customers.
• Assist Lighting Designers with technical queries and time‑critical issues, escalating serious concerns when needed.
• Communicate estimated project return dates and provide clear guidance on design expectations.
• Collect, organise, and technically assess projects before they enter the design pipeline.
• Plan and allocate estimated work time, feeding data into the Lighting Design Planner for resource management.
• Identify and propose improvements to the lighting design service and standardise workflows.
• Mentor trainee and new Lighting Designers, sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
• Support time‑critical projects by performing calculations and CAD work (Relux/Dialux, AutoCAD).

Required profile

• Extensive experience in lighting design for healthcare, education, workspace, or other industrial settings.
• Proficiency in designing electrical lighting components, particularly LED systems.
• Strong knowledge of lighting control technologies and ability to prepare technical submittal packages.
• Experience delivering training or guidance to colleagues.
